Privacy Policy

What we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do with it. We try to keep this short and plain because that is how a privacy policy should read.

Last updated: May 17, 2026

Who This Applies To

This policy covers Airborne Arts Costa Rica (operating at Aerial Avalon, Tinamastes, Costa Rica) and the website airbornearts.com. It explains what happens with the information you give us when you contact us, register for a retreat, pay through our checkout, or browse the site.

What We Collect

We only collect what we need to run a retreat, deliver a service you asked for, or respond to your message.

How We Use It

Who We Share It With

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers, marketing networks, or unrelated third parties. We do not rent, trade, or otherwise make your information available for any purpose outside of running the retreat or business you have engaged us for.

The only third parties we share your information with are those genuinely required to operate the retreat or the business, and only the minimum information they need:

How Long We Keep It

For active retreats: from registration through the retreat and reasonable follow-up. For past retreats and customers: indefinitely as part of our business records, unless you ask us to delete it. Tax and accounting records are retained as long as required by Costa Rican and applicable foreign law. Email correspondence is kept indefinitely unless you ask us to delete it.

Your Rights

You can, at any time:

Email jonathon@airbornearts.com and we will respond within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days.

Children

Our retreats are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If a guardian believes a minor has provided information to us without consent, please contact us and we will delete it.

Cookies and Tracking

We use a minimal set of cookies and similar technologies for the website to function and to keep it secure. These are managed by our hosting provider (Cloudflare). Our payment checkout (Stripe) sets cookies during the checkout flow as required to process the payment. We do not use third-party advertising cookies and do not allow third-party marketing trackers on the site.

Your choice. A banner on your first visit lets you choose between "Accept all" and "Essential only". Essential cookies (sign-in sessions, checkout, security checks) always work. If you choose Essential only, we do not set the attribution cookie described below, and embedded third-party content (our Instagram feed and WhatsApp chat widget) stays switched off. For visitors in the European Union, that embedded content is not loaded at all until a choice is made. You can change your mind any time by clearing this site's cookies and site data in your browser, which brings the banner back.

Embedded content. Some pages embed content from other companies: our Instagram feed and WhatsApp chat button (Elfsight), maps and calendars (Google), and videos (YouTube). When loaded, these services may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. Our own visit counting is cookie-free: it uses a short-lived technical identifier that is rotated daily and cannot follow you across days or other websites.

If you reach a retreat page through one of our QR codes or tagged links, and you have not chosen Essential only, we set a single first-party cookie (named "aa_src") that remembers which link brought you, for up to 30 days. It holds only a short source label such as "qr", contains no personal information, and simply lets us measure how many visits and bookings each QR code or link generates. It is never shared with any third party, and clearing your cookies removes it.

Your cart selections on the checkout page are stored locally in your browser (in localStorage). This information stays on your device and is only sent to our server when you proceed to checkout.

International Transfers

Airborne Arts operates from Costa Rica. The services we use to run the site and the business (Stripe, Cloudflare, email providers) may store and process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union. By using our website and services, you understand that your information may be transferred internationally for these purposes.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of the page for a reasonable period.
