Double rainbow over jungle valley at Airborne Arts Costa Rica

Your Playground Extends Far Beyond the Trapeze

Airborne Arts sits in one of the most geographically rich corners of Costa Rica, in the mountains above the Diamante valley, roughly 40 minutes inland from the Pacific coast town of Dominical. In every direction the landscape offers something extraordinary: jungle-covered mountains, rivers carving through volcanic rock, waterfalls cascading hundreds of feet into natural swimming holes and a coastline known for some of the best surfing in Central America.

Between training sessions, guests have access to a range of adventures. Some are heart-pounding, others peaceful and meditative. Add them to any scheduled retreat, a custom package, or book them on their own. Just tell us what interests you and we will help you plan the perfect adventure day.

Nauyaca Falls, a massive two-tiered waterfall with a natural turquoise swimming hole surrounded by lush Costa Rican jungle

Nauyaca Falls

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Costa Rica, right in our backyard. This two-tiered waterfall drops roughly 200 feet through dense jungle into a series of natural swimming holes. The hike winds through tropical jungle, crossing streams and ridgelines, and takes about four to five hours round trip at a comfortable pace. Guided hikes and horseback rides are both available.

Many of our retreat guests name this as one of the top experiences of their entire trip. Bring a swimsuit, a waterproof bag for your phone, and be prepared to have your breath taken away.

Canyoning

A full-body day in the jungle that combines rappelling down waterfalls, swimming through narrow canyon pools, scrambling over mossy boulders and jumping into deep natural plunge pools carved into volcanic rock. All trips are led by experienced local guides who provide helmets, harnesses, ropes and wetsuits. No previous experience is needed.

The typical excursion runs four to six hours with multiple rappels, natural water slides and cliff jumps. It is physically demanding but accessible to anyone in reasonable fitness, and it runs only with a minimum number of participants.

Paragliding

Tandem paragliding over the Pacific coast is one of the most unforgettable experiences near the property. You launch from a mountain ridgeline above the jungle canopy and soar over thousands of acres of primary rainforest with the ocean stretching west. This area is considered one of the best paragliding locations in Central America.

Flights last 20 to 40 minutes with certified tandem pilots. No experience needed, your pilot handles everything while you take in the view. Flights depart from a launch site roughly 30 to 45 minutes from the property and run with a minimum number of participants.

Surfing

Dominical beach is one of the most respected surf spots in Costa Rica, with consistent waves year-round. Powerful beach-break waves thrill experienced surfers, while the inside sections are forgiving for beginners. The drive from the property takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes through the jungle to the coast.

Lessons for complete beginners are taught by patient local instructors; boards and rash guards are provided. A morning surf session and an afternoon on the trapeze is one of the most popular combinations our guests put together.

Beach and Cave Exploration

The Pacific coast near Dominical is dotted with hidden beaches and sea caves that most tourists never find. Short hikes along the coast or scrambles over rock formations often leave you with an entire beach to yourself, a quieter, more exploratory kind of adventure.

The most remarkable cave experience involves Diamante Falls, the second-tallest waterfall in Costa Rica, a twin cascade that drops roughly 1,800 feet. Explore hidden caves by day, then rest in a hilltop garden overlooking the falls. A once-in-a-lifetime trek for those up for it.
