The Art of Flying
Swinging Trapeze technique. Aerial Stage Presence and Physical Imagination classes. How to build a trapeze.
December 21-28, 2026 | Airborne Arts, Costa Rica | Intermediate-Advanced
December 21-28, 2026
More Than a Training Week—A Week That Will Change the Way You Fly
This week is for aerialists who are ready to go deeper. Whether you’re dreaming of performing professionally, creating your own act, preparing for auditions, or simply wanting to reconnect with your artistry and fly, you’ll find your place here. You don’t need to be perfect—you just need curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to be challenged. I’ll meet you where you are and help you discover what you’re truly capable of. Each day we’ll train together with intention. We’ll build strong, clean swinging trapeze technique, refine timing and precision, develop dynamic movement, and explore stage presence, musicality, and physical imagination. We’ll work on the details that make a performer unforgettable, while also giving you the practical knowledge that most artists only learn after years in the industry—from creating your own act to understanding and caring for your equipment. Every session is designed to help you grow as both an athlete and an artist. But this experience is about much more than the hours in the air. You’ll spend the week surrounded by the jungle, sharing incredible meals, meaningful conversations, and a community of people who love movement and creativity as much as you do. We’ll train hard, laugh often, rest well, and leave with new friendships, new inspiration, and a fresh vision for what’s possible. When you join this intensive, you’re not just signing up for classes—you’re giving yourself an unforgettable week to learn, create, and reconnect with why you fell in love with flying in the first place.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I need to fly into?
Fly into San Jose International Airport (SJO) in Costa Rica and plan to spend that first night in a hotel in San Jose. The next morning our team picks you up for one of the most beautiful drives in the country: about 3.5 hours down the Pacific coast, with a stop at the beach along the way, arriving at Airborne Arts in the hills above Dominical with the whole afternoon ahead of you. Want to turn the trip into an adventure, with a waterfall hike or a surf stop? Ask us when you register. We send you the exact pickup time and meeting point before the retreat.
Where will I sleep?
A bed in our shared dorm above the Diamante valley is included in the retreat price. Private room upgrades are available when you register, first come first served.
What about food and dietary restrictions?
All meals are included: freshly prepared, locally sourced, served buffet style every day. After you register you fill in your dietary preferences and allergies in your guest portal, and our kitchen plans the week around them.
What is included in the price?
Your trainings and workshops with the coach, accommodation in the shared dorm, all meals, your ride to Airborne, and access to the full property. Private room upgrades and adventure add-ons can be added when you register or later from your guest portal.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers aerial and adventure activities. Costa Rica does not require it for entry, but it protects your trip.
What is the weather like?
Warm and tropical. Expect sunshine, jungle humidity and the occasional dramatic rain. Training spaces are covered, so the weather never cancels a session.
What to bring for trapeze/aerial training sessions
To make the most of your training, please bring: * Your swinging trapeze boots, if you have them. * Knee tape or protective athletic tape, if you have it, to help protect your skin during training. * Tights or close-fitting athletic clothing suitable for swinging trapeze. * Comfortable training gear that allows you to move freely. * A swinging trapeze safety belt (waist belt), if you own one. In general, pack comfortable clothes that you can train, stretch, move, and practice aerial skills in every day. Choose fitted, flexible clothing that protects your skin while allowing full freedom of movement.
